The game's creator, Alexei Kuznetsov, says he faced some roadblocks on his way to creating Tetris. The Soviet government tried to claim the copyright and trademark rights in countries where it didn't have a license. He had to go country-by-country trying to get these trademarks back from companies that owned them. "I was kind of sort of in a quarter, but we got a pretty decent deal"
