St. Basil says that the image is the form and figure of the emperor, and in the emperor is the form in the image. He who venerates the image, venerates in at the emperor for the image is his figure and form. And Turosios then says, the nature of reality teaches us that honor paid to the image passes over to the archetype as also does dishonor. Notice there that once again, images are part of the Christian cult. They are part of how we as a community practice and communicate and worship. The point is that to use Pope Adrian's logic, what's presupposed about images?
