Christina Johnson: The zero hours contract or the so-called contingent work space is that it so obviously looks like a wheeze to get out of obligations beyond paying for piece work from a company. I mean, in the UK, we have a type of lawyer called a barrister and essentially a barrister is also a gig worker. There are only a few thousand of them. And in some absurd way, well-known actors and presenters and musicians are gig workers because they get paid for every performance. We've kind of washed our hands and just thought, oh, like it's not me, I'm going to take Uber, it's cheaper.
