The way the story is told is like you're in the present and then you jump back to the past with Robert or Freddie it all kind of blends together a little bit if you're not really dialy laser focused on what he's doing in that country. The Morocco chapter where he's on this tour group where everybody gets like sick one at a time  is around also when he has the epiphany about how to fix his novel.
