The Consciousness of a Large Brain
The first-person experience is an inevitable consequence of a sufficiently large brain. Whether it's actually conscious or not is something that we can't know because we can't ever know what it feels like to be a computer. But any finite list of attributes of consciousness, I think that at some point in the future a computer will check all the boxes.
