I'm Not Sure, or Let's Test It
I think that most of what product managers get told or come up with should be treated as hypotheses that need to be tested before we build them. I'm moving away from the idea of using the word hypothesis to using the word bet. And one thing I tell teams is that every solution idea you have is dependent upon a set of assumptions. How do we surface those and test those? But even after doing a lot of assumption testing, you're still making a bet.
