The Barber of Seville

Rosini's Barber of Seville is based on the famous Aria saved by Bunch Bunny. But that doesn't actually come from this opera. In the prequel Figaro is a kind of itinerant Barber and he walks around Seville. He knows everyone, so when two lovers are in pursuit of one another he passes the messages between them. That's what it was about. And at the end of Barber Seville Figaro has helped the local rich guy the count to steal his bride away from this old miserly guy Dr Bartolo. She wants to be stolen. Let's be clear about that. It makes it a little harder to know what's going on.
