The Real and the Unreal in Storytelling
Sally Kohn: You said in another interview that there is no such thing as real or unreal when you're writing your stories. Is that what you're talking about there? Or is that something, is that a different aspect of storytelling? She says she's always very interested in investigating inarticulateness and sort of describing the fact that the failures of our language are for me really interesting territory.Kohn: If I am writing all of that into a story in terms of how our characters engage with the things that happen to them, then even though that language is maybe flat and there are ways of seeing the world feel flattened in some way, hopefully that has some dimensionality
