The Importance of Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometers

In recent years researchers like MASH who has worked on the Apollo samples as well as scientists working on more recent lunar samples from China's missions to the moon have been able to make some important and interesting discoveries. In our lab here at the open university we have an instrument called secondary ion mass spectrometer. We started showing that actually there was hydrogen present and that hydrogen could have come from x, y and z sources. The whole field required re-investigation and that is just the science.
