The Evolution of Storytelling

I disagree with your critique, but I feel like I don't wanna get too sidetracked on this because I mean, I agree with the general point. Like yeah, like it's adaptive for us to be able to think and play with ideas that are very far removed from our immediate social environment. So you can imagine a lot of like religious stories told about do unto others as you'd have others do unto you. If you embed that into a story about a God who's gonna smite you, if you act poorly, well, that'll have a lot of social benefits. And so that's why there's an evolutionary advantage to telling information that we know know to be false.
