The Benefits of Increasing Systolic Blood Pressure in Older Adults With Hypertension
There was a relatively small but I think clear benefit to more aggressive systolic blood pressure lowering in older adults with hypertension, vis-a-vis developing MCI dementia. The dementia was not statistically significant alone. But when you looked at MCI or MCI and dementia, it was statistically significant. You know, for a while statins looked like they were going to help with everything. And then there was some concern that statins might be harmful.
