Why Do We Extend Automatic Trust?

We feel uncomfortable acknowledging this because we find it difficult to question long held beliefs. We also don't like to acknowledge beliefs that we didn't know we had in the first place. A position of trust and authority doesn't mean that the person has the job because they are trustworthy or an authority, full stop. And a story on everything on earth they've been given trust and authority, regardless of whether that was the right thing to do or not.
