Paul was held in custody for two years by Felix, the governor of Judea. Paul's defense: "I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward God and toward men" He says he is astonished that people are turning away from his gospel. If anyone preaching contrary to what you received let him be accursed; if I were still pleasing men, I should not be servant of Christ.
