Playdactel Cats

The Key West Lighthouse was completed in 1835. The great Havana hurricane of 1846 destroyed it and the USS Morris which was wrecked during this storm. Hemingway, the story goes, was given a six-toed cat and snow white by a sea captain. There are preserved in the cement here footprints of several of the Playdactel cats. Their hands look sort of like the hands of koala bears with the thumbs oppositional to the other fingers.
