Is This a Book Review?

The first chapter takes place in like 1938, it opens in a cramped train station. People crowd it together and the first character we're introduced to Leonid Fitalovich is a mathematician who's pondering where he's going to get a pair of boots or by what sort of means he could convince the state to provide them with either a repair for the current pair of boots they as or new ones. And it's a really interesting sort of opening chapter because you get a sense of this like for a different sort of way of thinking about things.
