The word epic is often associated with ancient works like the Iliad and the Odyssey. The Greek words mythos and logos were even combined to produce the English word mythology. Apos was another term for a word or group of words, and it gave us the English word epic. It also explains why Helen is referred to as the face that launched a thousand ships.
