Programming is a spectator sport? Essentially yes. Different people like to see different things. I think you would need to be careful about what it is that you're showing because a lot of parts of a lot of programming are frankly not that interesting. For example, if you're trying to show somebody how to use a particular tool in practice, then a video is much better than trying to describe that in textual form.
