Casey presented his theory and 55 names to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms team. Special agents were uncomfortable with the idea of viewing conference attendees as suspected criminals. The theory was dismissed, and with no other leads to follow, the investigation hit a dead end. No further fires were reported until March 9, the day after the conference.
