Inoculated patients were still infectious and had to be quarantined usually for about three weeks. Thomas Jefferson from Virginia in his 20s and 1766 went to Philadelphia to be inoculated. Ordinary people, poor people, working class people couldn't afford to do it. People know that rich people are getting it, but average colonists still don't usually have access to it. There is a mortality rate from inoculation. Around 1% die from it.
