The Role of Central Bankers in Core Inflation

Headline inflation, which includes energy, spiked at close to 10% in Europe and then gone down because energy prices have fallen. But core inflation is now at above 5%. Some people would call that sticky inflation, not including price of energy. So if there was no oil shock, a natural gas shock, core inflation would have been muted in Europe, but there was,. so Core inflation rose, so inflation broadens out from the original shock - even though the original shock is just from energy.
