Japan tried to pass a similar version of the immigration reform in 2021, but because of Wishma's case, they had to shelve it. The law enables the temporary release of asylum seekers under the supervision of a caretaker. It also stipulates that inspectors in charge of assessing asylum requests need to undergo some proper training.
