Redwood's strong point is really a dedication to long-term maintainability. We've chosen technologies that will work at any scale and especially GraphQL as part of that. A lot of frameworks are trying to make the API layer disappear because it's easier for the developer, which is true in the beginning. The problem is a year down the line when you want to create a new client or start teasing apart bits of your application into different kinds of servers. Some of them need to be optimized. Now you start having trouble because you don't have a standardized protocol to use to communicate between the different parts.
