Is the Academy Getting Worse?
I think academia has become much worse as a place to work and pursue a life of ideas. Other options, i don't think there are so many general categories of things you can do but just weird ways of finding your niche seems to be far easier with the internet. Those options are much more live now than they were 20 or 30 years ago. And we're suffering from ving an academic world that is ailing so badly. I mean, different anecdotes and stories you read about yale and tit's not just one or two of them. There seem to be so many, it just, to me seems intellectually and morally crippled in a fundamental way.
