The History of Guyana
Guyana gained independence from Britain in 1966, but it didn't have its first entirely democratic election until the early 90s. The country was on the CIA's radar at the time, and they had strong opinions about which of these two men they'd prefer to see in charge of so many resources. In fact, Venezuela has denied the US companies their rightful share, whatever that may be.
