Polish Allies in a War With Germany or the Soviet Union

Poland's military alliance with France in 1921 was clearly targeted at Germany. The status of the Soviet Union and the Franco-Polish alliance was more complicated. Poland knew that they had to exist in a war with either of its larger neighbors. Polish leaders did not want vague guarantees and vague promises. They wanted precise timings for attacks and a firm commitment of resources.
