The whole idea of becoming more myelinated is it becomes as you say more efficient, potentially and the malination does two things one it keeps it stable, but also increases the maybe the velocity of transmission. It's interesting studying myelination and how it changes could reveal some really interesting principles how the brain adapts. But think about ultimate just myelination is also complicated factor maybe people have opinion because more marinated it's not always better.
