The Ancient Egyptians and the Evolution of Astrology
In the year 464, we have the first appearance of the zodiac in a diary text. It's starting to come together in recognizable form in the 5th century. The Egyptians developed a solar calendar with 12 months of 30 days each,. plus 5 extra days, the epigomenal days. This was modified in the late Hellenistic period with a leap year every four years and an extra day in it. But wait! There are two very important contributions which the ancient Egyptians undoubtedly did make - they must not neglect to mention their Egyptian calendar.
