The Social Status of the Founding Fathers
The founding fathers could easily be seen as representatives of nothing but the upper strata. But even this is also not entirely true, they all had some wealth and a certain degree of privilege in the old fashioned sense of the word. They represented a kind of aspiring, striving lower upper class that naturally was drawn to the idea of expropriating those loyalists who were one step above them on the social scale.
