The Evolution of Vakaro Style Horsemanship
The angle of the spade bit in relation to the cheek piece is if it's a well-made bit, it's between 85 and 86 degrees. The signal comes off the palate of the horse's mouth. It's considered a fine instrument, not a weapon. Other cultures of riding are into leverage bits and they're designed with a chin strap. And I'm very much the purest in terms of the Vakaro culture in trying to preserve it.
