The Paradox of Grief

i argue that there is something good about grief, that it is an opportunity for a certain species of self knowledge or self understanding. By grieving, we are sometimes a positiond to reassess and rebuild our practical identities. We discover or identify new sets of concerns and commitments that we didn't have before. And so in many cases they turn out to be painful, i'm not trying to deny the pains - even if they're painful -- but this kind of 'good pain' helps us understand ourselves more fully.
