Tolstoy's Anna Krenniner
The art of Anna Krenniner is you judge the characters by virtue of being there, with Tolstoy as God in the novel. It's a dual narrative, this is why throwing Levin's narrative in is so masterful. One of the most electrifying scenes is when Levin and Anna meet for the first and only time. There's an energy transfer, a transference of life when they meet. That's one of the most endlessly rereadable passages.
