Schusterkowich's Introduction to the Opening Theme
The piece was meant to be a response to criticism that Schusterkowich was too much of a radical thinker. The entire acceleration is underpinned with relentless ostinatos, the driving force of the movement. It makes sense to slowly get faster and faster as if the wheels on this train are no longer responding to the breaks. That is, until a shocking moment when the tempo slows down for the very first time in the development.
