Cognitive Overload - What Is It?

Cognitive overload refers to the amount of information that we can hold in our working memory at any one time. An open loop is simply a commitment we've made that hasn't yet been fulfilled. Our brains tend to remember and focus on incomplete tasks more than it does on completed tasks.
