Is It Possible That They're Using Acid to Carve Stone?

Would it be possible that they're using acid to carve what they've carved into the stones? Cause it seems like, you know, they're going of their way to make sure this acid isn't eating away at this stone. Maybe they would use it to create the facial features of the sphinx, right? They could dissolve it and corrode it with acid and make the process a lot quicker than just chiseling it away. So i think they were an people asked how they carved the ancient stone. I mean, if you're raised from birth to carve stone, it gets pretty easy to do. Not easy, but they have the knowledge of how to do it.
