Dioxins are ubiquitous and exist in the environment at low levels. They interfere with hormones, can cause cancer,. damage, the immune system, cause reproductive and developmental problems. The Environmental Protection Agency says dioxins could be toxic to people and animals if they come into contact with them. David Anderson is a local farmer who was evacuated from his family's farm when vinyl chloride was set on fire.
