The island of Pickarn is still inhabited. There are forty eight individuals that live there to day. A cargo freighter visits the island only four times a year and brings them the goods that they need to sustain themselves. High schoolers actually go to high school in new zealand, and so sometimes their parents will go visit them. And i genuinely didn't think i was going to write a book, but then the experience was so unique and the history so riveting, that i had to know more.
