How Can We Know the Future?

How can we know to what extent the future is predetermined through time? Well, I think that one of the reasons I wrote the book is because I realized that as an ordinary citizen, I had never done a course about the future. The basic principle is actually very simple. You look for regular trends in the past and then you take a bet that they may continue into the future. But there are never any guarantees that your bet will pay off.
