Is There a Black Woman in Physics?

John Sutter: There's a long tradition of questioning the idea that black kids are quote unquote linear thinkers. He says there can be a physics where things along the lines of intuition or holistic thought will be considered as important as nasty mathematics. Sutter: I'm thinking about Stefan Alexander, who has two popular trade books out called The Jazz of Physics and Fear of a Black Universe. A former president of the National Association of Black Physicists, he argues that any scientific community has a tendency to reaffirm what it is they know.
