The Limits of Materialism and Determinism
Dennett: Determinism and limited materialism are meaningless in a way. They violate the rules of certain language games, also our formal handling of causation. As Bertrand Russell said, it's like the modern key, it outlived its time but I don't think we should reify it. There might be some moves that are not allowed when making causal models for free will. And so there's a sense in which determinism wouldn't be an enemy because the causation on that level would not influence the causation on the other levels.
