The Forlorn Hope, the Maidu Tribe
In the book, a group of survivors find themselves in dire straits. They are overcome by seeing any type of sign of human life. The tribe makes them acorn mush that is kind of ther staple food. But it wasn't enough to sustain tem they needed more food than that. Back at the camps, there's been cannibalism. We know that toy happen, but maybe not back at the camps.
