The Catholicism of Montesquieu

Montesquieu married a protestant ar which must have been so bold and extraordinary. He was from a good catholic family but he's unhappy with catholicism in france. There are protestantsin his family from previous generations as well. Montesquieu is a deist who believes in a i blind, in a blind watchmaker who has created the earth. But you don't have to have an idea of an intervening god, or that individuals have a personal relationship with god that then directs their politics. They're not told by god to do particular things.
