The 37th Method Is Response Prevention

The 37th method is response prevention. People with severe OCD fall into this and it's an addiction because when you check to make sure you're safe, it creates relief, temporarily relief from the anxiety. In response prevention, you simply say to the patient or you say to yourself, if you're a patient struggling with this, you're not permitted to do the checking behavior. You can't pull over the side of the road and be looking for dead body. It just depends on what you and your patient prefer.
