For a very long period, the country was a thousand percent behind Chamberlain. So this view of Chamberlain as a kind of utter vegetable is terribly unfair. If Chamberlain has done anything, it's to buy the country some time. The chief cause of resentment for Hitler is the existence of the Polish corridor. This 70-mile wide strip of land has been carved straight through German territory. A week after his entry into Prague, for an encore, Hitler heads to Svenemunde on the Baltic. There alongside loyal Admiral Ryder, he boards the cruiser Deutschland.
