The Importance of Criticism in Science
i argues that our brains are computers which we can use to learn about things beyond the physical world, including pure mathematical abstractions. This ability to understand abstractions is an emergent property of people and greatly puzzled the ancient athenian philosopher plato. As i explained in chapter one, empiricism has multiple fatal flaws, but it is no mystery where our knowledge of abstractions comes from. The enlightenment has made progress by bringing those other methods to bear in non scientific fields as well.
