The Power of Denial in Romance

When I'm thinking about the promise that needs to be made, the things that I need to put early in the book, the first thing I frame for myself is what are the awesome things that I want to do? What are the awesome moments? Now, how do I tell the reader that that thing is possible and might be coming without telling them exactly what's going to happen? Right. We say promises and it's not really the same as an actual promise. Means you're going to get bread. And then in romance, there's matrimony. But again, this is something that you can look at. That frequently a character is refusing, part of that refusing to accept or
