Is Social Media Really the Driving Force Behind This?

i have seen some data showing just declining trust in general and institution. I don't know if social media per se really is the driving force there, am i think it may be that people on the right, just in general, feel like the country is culturally hostile to them. These institutions tend to be staffed and, you know, managed by more educated people,. so they kind of mechanically just become more left leaning.
