There's a nickname for sailors in the British Navy. They're called Taa's because their hands were often covered in tar from the deck. For practical and embarrassment reasons, you would salute with your palm down. Don't insult the Marines. You just get me into more trouble here. Rubbish Navy seals as well. I hate all of them.
