The History of Mississippi in the 1960s
This was a real hotbed of civil rights action in the 60s. The county registrar here, who would register voters, was the first one in the country to be tried criminally with the Civil Rights Act for not allowing black people to vote. At one point they had almost 100% white registration and 1% black registration. So it was a problem. It's like that doesn't represent the cloth of the south. Not really. When you hear the demographic numbers, you're like, whoa, that should be... Wow, that happened. But like I said, that would take two hours to talk about because there's so much that happened there. Just know some bad stuff happened
