Is There a Need to Update the Writing?
I think that there is value in showing folks what writing used to be like. People were gendering their characters and this is why, right? Like can we have that conversation with young people who maybe are non-binary or who we're helping understand the nuances of gender? I feel like it was some, some racist language here, some gender language. Somebody trying to explain something away here. If you're reading that book, it probably pulls you right out of the book and signals to you something problematic used to be here.
