The Importance of Self-Awareness

It's so interesting to me to hear the same democratic politicians who believe that a 14-year-old can make a decision about an abortion on her own without parental consent or involvement. Yet the very same politicians are saying oh but we can't try them as adults because they're the frontal lobes if their brains aren't developed yet and so they clearly don't understand long-term consequences for behavior. The part of the brain that that best understands consequential behaviors isn't felt until they're 25 if they're male  or younger if you're a female. Gosh there's the right there's so much cognitive dissonance there, it just drives me crazy.
